Mo Bags charges hard to finish 5th in March Madness
Morgan Bagley grabbed a hard-fought top-five finish in Missouri on Saturday after battling a stout COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) field during the Mr. Dent March Madness event at Springfield Raceway.
Bagley, who was among 38 CCSDS drivers at the quarter-mile track, steered his Billy Bob’s Repair & Tire No. 14 Super Late Model to fourth in his heat race. That result put him 14th on the grid to start the 35-lap, $5,000-to-win feature. He quickly moved forward and entered the top five just before halfway. He ultimately finished fifth behind Timothy Culp, Billy Moyer Sr., Jake Timm and Jon Kirby.
For his efforts, Bagley earned the MD3 Five Star Bodies Hard Charger award.
The March Madness program was slated to be the second half of a CCSDS weekend doubleheader, but high winds canceled Friday’s scheduled $5,000-to-win Spring Chiller at Tulsa (Oklahoma) Speedway.
Through two races this season, Bagley is tied for fourth in CCSDS points.
